Minster Trust for Education (MITRE) recently held its first whole-Trust event at Southwell Minster, with over 200 pupils from MITRE schools across the region singing together to an audience of family and friends. The concert was a culmination of musical projects across the term and included the premiere showing of 'I Wish', a song composed by a talented Year 12 student from The Minster School, Esme Taylor. Pupils from MITRE schools have been learning the song and filmed their performance, which has been edited into a downloadable music video to raise funds for Save the Children.
In the concert, pupils from MITRE schools performed as individual schools and also collectively as a Trust, joining together in a joy-filled musical evening. With performers ranging from Year 1 to Year 12, the concert was a real celebration of children and young people making music together in the beautiful surroundings of the Minster. The songs chosen for the concert were connected through the theme of 'Togetherness', reflecting the MITRE mission. Matthew Parris, CEO of MITRE said 'At Minster Trust for Education our mission is that "Together we help every child to flourish, opening doors to fulfilling futures." This concert was an opportunity for all to celebrate the talents and passions of pupils across a group of ten diverse schools and to bring together pupils, staff and families from across Nottinghamshire."
The MITRE music video 'I Wish' is available to download from the MITRE website.
